Real Madrid became the first team in Europe to win the UEFA Champions League for the third time in a row after beating Liverpool 3-1 at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium on Saturday.
Goals from Karim Benzema and a double from substitute Gareth Bale in the second half was enough to overcome a spirited Liverpool side despite Sadio Mane’s goal.
Bale came off the bench to score one of the great goals in Champions League history and add to Loris Karius’ personal ordeal by sealing Real Madrid’s third consecutive European title.
It is also the fourth trophy the Los Blancos will be winning in the space of five years to become one of the greatest teams in the world.
