Nigeria’s Super Eagles will be hoping to commence 2018 on a winning note after an impressive 4-2 win over Argentina last year in an international friendly encounter as they face Poland in another warm-up friendly at the Stadion Miejski on Friday ahead of the summer World Cup.

Having been pitted alongside countries like Argentina, Croatia and Iceland in Group D, their Polish counterpart will square up against teams such as Senegal, Japan and Colombia in Group H.

Super Eagles Technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has called up a 28-man squad that consists of regulars such as Mikel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Leon Balogun, Troost-Ekong Ekong to mention a few for Friday encounter.

On the other hand, Poland also invited Piotr Zieliński, Wojciech Szczęsny, Grzegorz Krychowiak,
Paweł Jaroszyński, and Robert Lewandowski, who will be shouldering the goal scoring responsibility against the Super Eagles.

While the Nigeria senior national team defeated World Cup-bound, Argentina 4-2 in a remarkable comeback last year November in Krasnodar, the Polish narrowly lost 1-0 to Mexico in an international friendly game.

However, in their last six games in all competitions, Nigeria remains unbeaten; winning four and drawing two, while   Poland had won three, lost two and drawn one.

The Super Eagles will be targeting a victory against Poland in a bid to build the players confidence ahead of the World Cup before facing another European and World Cup-bound team, Serbia on March 27 at the Hive London Stadium in England.

There is no doubt that Poland will be hoping to make their home ground count by putting the Super Eagles on a slaughter slab, however, going by Nigeria’s impressive form, it will be difficult for the host to beat Rohr’s tutored side.

The Super Eagles will be making a sixth appearance at the World Cup tournament in Russia. They reached the round of 16 in 1994. 1998 and 2014 but exited the 2002 and 2010 tournaments in the group stages.
