Alex Iwobi is in a race against time to be fit for Sunday’s League Cup final against Manchester City after he was replaced in the closing minutes of his side’s 2-1 Europa League loss to Ostersunds.
Manager Arsene Wenger had suggested that the initial prognosis was that the Super Eagles forward only suffered cramps, which forced him to haul him off in stoppage time.
But ahead of Sunday’s League Cup final clash against Manchester City, Wenger has now admitted that Iwobi’s fitness is questionable and the Hale End Academy graduate will be closely monitored in the next two days.
”From Thursday night, we don’t know what kind of state Alex Iwobi is in, for example,” Wenger told reporters.
”We will know that today and tomorrow. But overall, we have no injuries from last night. Some players were rested, they are alright.”
