Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed that he never knew whether he was onside or offside before netting the killer goal that ensured Leicester City zoom into the next round of the FA Cup.

Iheanacho made a statement of intent to manager, Claude Puel as he netted a brace in Leicester City 2-0 win over Fleetwood Town in Tuesday’s replay of the FA Cup at the King’s Power Stadium.

The Nigerian international who has been struggling to command a starting shirt in the team, may have won Puel’s heart with those brilliant goals; of which the second goal could have been denied for offside if not for Video Assisted Referee (VAR) that spot the right decision.

‘I didn’t know if I’m onside or offside but I think Riyad told me that I was onside, so I concentrated on the goal,’ said Iheanacho. ‘If there is a review, we just wait to see what the referee’s decision is. The communication with the players is good enough.’

Iheanacho scored the opening when he received a pass from Islam Slimani before burying the ball pass the Fleetwood goalkeeper in the 42nd minutes.

However, in the 78th minutes, Algeria’s Ryad Mahrez set him up for the second goal which he calmly finished with a beautiful chip despite call for an offside.
