Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has begged former teammate Mesut Ozil not to join Barcelona, according to report.
Ozil is out of contract next summer and has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid rivals Barcelona.
The German is free to negotiate with any club in January and Barcelona could agree on a deal with the playmaker to join at the end of the season as Arsenal is keen to cash in on the 29-year-old in January.
According to Don Balon, Ramos has personally called Ozil in an effort to convince him not to sign for Barcelona.
The pair played together for three years during Ozil’s spell at the Bernabeu.
Ramos would consider it a betrayal if the former Werder Bremen star joined Real’s great rivals
The Spaniard believes Ozil linking up with the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez would seriously harm his side’s title chances.
The pair remains close friends, Ramos once defended Ozil in a halftime argument with former manager Jose Mourinho according to Marca.
Ozil sees Barcelona offers so attractive and he is yet to make any promises about his future and it has always been his intention to return to Spain and she considers Barcelona move as the perfect opportunity to fulfil his move back to Spain.
Ozil has won three FA Cups with Arsenal and a Community Shield.
