Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi recorded a goal after returning from  injury as Arsenal grabbed a comfortable 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, moving into fifth place in the Premier League standings in the process.

Nacho Monreal gave the Gunners the lead early in the first half, scoring from close range after a wild scramble in the box. Iwobi added to the advantage after the break, and the Gunners cruised to the finish line.

The victory, on the 21st anniversary of Arsene Wenger’s appointment as Arsenal manager. Arsenal’s opener on 16 minutes came from an unlikely source, as Spanish defender Monreal netted his first Premier League goal since 16 March 2013, in the Gunners’ 2-0 win at Swansea 1660 days ago.

Arsene Wenger’s side finally doubled their lead on 56 minutes thanks to Iwobi’s first Premier League goal since January. But the plaudits will go to Alexis Sanchez, who set up the Nigerian with a brilliant feinted shot and disguised back-heel in thebox to lay the ball on a plate for his team-mate to slam the ball high beyond Ryan.

Iwobi picked the starting shirt, but later paved way for Theo Walcott in the 71st minute. The goal was Iwobi’s first strike of the ongoing 2017/18 Premier League season.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old midfielder has put to rest the issue of his availability for next weekend’s crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Chipolopolo of Zambia in Uyo.
