Eighteen players, including two Super Eagles’ goalkeepers, have been invited to camp by the home – based Eagles coach Salisu Yusuf ahead of the West African Football Union Cup of Nations tournament scheduled for September 9 to 24 in Ghana .
Demola Olajire, Head of Communication, Nigeria Football Federation , said Ikechukwu Ezenwa , who was in goal against Cameroon in the recent 2018 World Cup qualifying double – header and his assistant , Dele Ajiboye, were part of the team.
Also invited were Kano Pillars’ Rabiu Ali and Lobi Stars forward Kingsley Eduwo , the goal scorers in the 2 – 0 victory against Benin in Kano , which ensured Nigeria qualified for next year’ s CHAN .
Defenders Stephen Eze (IfeanyiUbah), Emmanuel Ariwachukwu (Akwa United), Chima Akas (Enyimba ), Osas Okoro (Rangers), Adeleye Olamilekan (IfeanyiUbah) and Daniel James (Plateau United) made the squad .
The midfielders are Afeez Aremu (Akwa United); Ifeanyi Ifeanyi (Akwa United); Ali (Kano Pillars ); Samuel Mathias (El – Kanemi Warriors ) and Destiny Ashadi (Katsina United ).
The head coach also extended invitation to attackers Gabriel Okechukwu (Akwa United ), Peter Eneji (Plateau United), Ubong Friday (Akwa United) and Anthony Okpotu (Lobi Stars).
Olajire said the team would leave Abuja on September 7 for Ghana.
