Ex international, Mutiu Adepoju says reports of Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr stepping down is completely a false story considering the fact that he’s in good terms with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
On Wednesday, it was reported in some media that Rohr was unhappy with recriminations he has received from particular sections of the Nigerian football fraternity after the loss of the team at home to South Africa last month, which they said could forced him to resign.
Despite losing 2-0 against South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, his first as coach of the team, Rohr has began his managerial career with the Super Eagles on a flying note after defeating Zambia 2-1 and Algeria 3-1 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
However, the 1994 AFCON winner told Soccernet.com.ng that Rohr’s relationship with the NFF remains intact and doesn’t see him leave a job that he’s doing well.
“It’s amazing to read in the pages of the newspaper and online that Gernot Rohr is planning to step down from his managerial post in the Super Eagles,” Adepoju told Soccernet.com.ng
” I believe they are stories that are meant to cause confusion between the two parties, knowing fully that Nigeria is in a good position to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
“The Nigeria Football Federation are completely in good terms with Rohr and I sincerely believe they won’t take this reports seriously.
