Media reports on Sunday suggest Neymar’s world-record move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain has been held up by his father Neymar Santos Snr in order to earn a huge chunk of commission.
The Brazilian superstar signed a new contract with the Nou Camp club last October, for which Neymar Snr earned £23.3m, for helping persuade his son to commit his future to Barca.
According to The Sunday Times, that commission is not due to be paid until after July 31st, and that the obligation for Barca to pay it would have been null and void had theplayer left before that date.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to PSG all summer with the French side willing to pay his £198.7m release clause and give him a contract in the region of £55m-a-year.
Neymar’s father would also receive a hefty sum of commission from that deal too – likely to be around 10 per cent of the transfer fee.
The player’s world-record move from the Camp Nou to Paris Saint-Germain is expected to be formalised this week once the huge commission due to his father is sorted out.
