Adarabioyo signs new Manchester City contract

Tosin Adarabioyo has signed a new contract that will keep him at Manchester City until 2021, the Premier League club have announced.

The Manchester-born Adarabioyo has been a regular in Simon Davies’ Elite Development Squad during the 2016/17 season, featuring fifteen times in the Premier League 2 and six times in the UEFA Youth League.

Manchester City in a statementon its website wrote: “Manchester City are delighted to announce that Tosin Adarabioyo has extended his contract with the club. The young centre-back has penned a new deal which keeps him at City until 2021.”

The centre-back has appeared four times for City’s first team with his debut coming in the FA Cup clash at Stamford Bridge in the 2015/16 campaign, earning City’s man-of-the-match award.

The 19-year-old’s next appearance came in the 1-0 victory in the second leg of the Champions League qualifier against Romanian side Steaua Bucharest last August.

Adarabioyo, who wears the squad number 53, was then one of several younger members of the squad tostar in the EFL Cup victory over Swansea City in September, before going on to play the full match as City ended their Champions League group stage with a 1-1 draw against Celtic in December.

Since joining the squad on their pre-season tour of China, Adarabioyo has also been a regular part of Pep Guardiola’s first team training sessions after being promoted to the senior squad by the new manager.

A tall defender capable of reading the game quickly, Adarabioyo signed his first professional contract withthe club when he turned 17 in 2014 – three years after making his U18s debut at the tender age of 14.
