Kelechi Iheanacho scored from the spot to help Nigeria get a draw against Corsica in a friendly on Friday night.
Kelechi Iheanacho scored from the penalty spot as Nigeria came from behind to draw 1-1 with the tiny French island of Corsica in an international friendly in Ajaccio on Friday night.
The Corsicans led the Super Eagles 1-0 at half time after the tiny French island scored early in the first half of the international friendly.
New Super Eagles defender, Tyrone Ebuehi, making his debut in this game, was adjudged to have handledthe ball inside his area and referee Hamel Johan gives a penalty, and Mandrichi scored.
The Super Eagles had their own chances, but Henry Onyekuru, Ahmed Musa and Alhassan Ibrahim missed very good chances to draw the Super Eagles level.
But in the second half, the Super Eagles continued to dominate possession but weren’t making any headway in terms of breaking down the Corsica defence. The introduction of Stephen Odey did appear to have some impact as the MFM striker forced the Corsica goalkeeper into a save.
But the equalizer wouldn’t come until the 80th minute, when Iheanacho converted from the spot after a Nigerian player was brought down inside the Corsica 18-yard box.
But despite their overwhelming dominance, the Super Eagles failed to make it count as the game ended in astalemate. They will face Togo in another international friendly on June 1.
