Ex international, Mutiu Adepoju believes the array of young players that featured in the Super Eagles 1-1 draw against the Teranga Lions of Senegal in an international friendly match at the Hive Stadium on Wednesday has really raised hope of a bright future for the team.
The Teranga Lions broke the deadlock in the 58th minute through Mousso Sow’s clinical finish before Kelechi Iheanacho level parity via a penalty in the 83rd minute after he was brought down.
However, the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winning player told Soccernet.com.ng that Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has really improve the composure of the senior national, most especially with the game against Senegal.
“I am quite impressed with the performance of the Super Eagles in their 1-1 draw against the Teranga Lions of Senegal on Wednesday. I am impressed because of the youthfulness in that team, where majority of the players are within the age bracket of 24 years,” Adepoju told Soccernet.com.ng.
“To be frank, Super Eagle technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has really transformed the senior national team, with his tactical and technical inputs. I believe the future is bright with the team if he maintains such a balance. And I am confident that the Super Eagles will qualify for the 2018 World Cup with what I have seen,” he said.
