Ex international, Dosu Joseph has advised Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho to keep his head cool despite being ignored by Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola.
Iheanacho has missed four of City’s Premier League matches and has been further dealt a blow after his name was omitted in the Champions League squad that will commence on February 14.
The Nigerian international has scored four goals in 17 appearances for the Citizens in the Premier League this on-going season but with the arrival of Gabriel Jesus at the winter transfer, his place in the team has been threatened.
However, Atlanta Olympic gold medallist told Soccernet.com.ng that Iheanacho shouldn’t feel frustrated but play his way back into the heart of Guardiola.
“I feel disappointed that Kelechi Iheanacho hasn’t been getting quality playing time at Manchester City, however, I still believe that he would be reinstated into the team,” Dosu revealed to Soccernet.com.ng.
“The truth is, he needs to be playing regularly for the sake of Nigeria’s World Cup campaign regardless of Guardiola’s consistent ignorance of Iheanacho. I don’t want to believe that the arrival of Gabriel Jesus would limit his playing time considering the fact that their qualities are different.
“If Iheanacho remains patient, I sincerely believe that Guardiola would look towards his direction. He shouldn’t feel frustrated because I know his time will come,” he said.
