Shootings Star gaffer, Fatai Amoo has attributed the maximum points dropped at home against MFM Football Club of Lagos to the inability of his wards to bury most of the chances created during the encounter.

Oluyole warrior took the game to their opponent on a promising note as MFM survived an early scare. The exchange of passes between Adigun and Waheed Afolabi nearly resulted into the opener for the home team but many thanks to Ospina Egbe who came to party with right frame of mind and absolute concentration.

Adigun Adewale should have sent the home fans into wild jubilation in 11th minute, had it being he rightly connected with the resultant cross sent to the area from by line

Bashiru and Opara did well in defence during the first stanza to curtail the resilience of Shooting’s attackers as they continued to dictate the tempo of the game with seven unconverted chances.

Momentum shifted to Olukoya boys towards the last ten minutes of the first stanza, as Stephen Odey the hat trick hero in Lagos over the weekend became the icon to reckon with for MFM.

Football Highlights

Sikiru Olatunbosun broke the heart of Ibadan fans in 42nd minute of the encounter When he buried the ball past Adamu Abubakar via a goal mouth scramble.

Wale Adigun of 3SC could have provided the leveller before half time but Wood work had to claim his effort in another goal mouth scramble as Shooting Stars strikers were firing and misfiring upfront.

Patience was required, and there was not much more that Amoo’s side could do as they sought to break down a resolute Lagos based team who were having to contend with wave after wave of pressure.

Finally, the dam broke on the hour mark as substitute, Sunday Faleye was fouled by Bashiru in the area.

A 90th-minute penalty by Bode Daniel secured a hugely-dramatic point for Oluyole warriors, as both team shared the spoils on the turf.

In a private chat after the game, Coach Fatai Amoo stated,

“I would have loved us to
win the game but unfortunately we couldn’t win today, owing to the fact that we created enough chances and we wasted too much chances in front of goal.

“l knew we were going to have a very difficult game beating MFM considering their last home game result and their current form.

“Again, we traveled to Kano by road to play our last game compared to MFM that played in Lagos.

“Although, that is an excuse but l think the major reason why we didn’t win today is that, we did not take our chances.

“We will work hard in training  before we go to Ilorin and we have to correct some mistakes, most especially our finishing is a very turbulent area where we have to make sure we do better than what we did today,” He concluded.

Shooting Stars currently occupies 15th place on the log after amassing 4points from 4games. Oluyole Warrior will be the guest of ABS FC in Match Day 5 of Nigeria Professional Football League at Kwara State Sport Complex Ilorin.
