ABS FC drew the first blood in the 52nd minute, but the euphoria welcoming the goal was yet to die down when Katsina United got the equalizer.

The remaining minutes were played with relative caution, as the two teams remain virtually in their own halves, waiting for counter attacks.

Katsina United converted four of their kicks, while ABS FC converted three.

Remo Stars had earlier won the third place match also on penalties, defeating the home team, Gombe United 3-1 after a one all draw at regulation time.

In the first match of the knock-out series, Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC defeated the hosts, Gombe United 5-4 on penalties after a goaless draw at regulation time, while Katsina United edged Remo Stars 3-0 on Wednesday.

The regular season was determined from four groups of eight teams each, with Katsina United emerging champions of Group A1, Gombe United champions of Group A2, Remo Stars champions of Group B1, and Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC champions of Group B2.

The competition was also staged to allow the teams begin preparation for their campaign in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

ABS FC will begin their campaign in the NPFL next season at home to Akwa United FC,

The club, against all odds, qualified for the NPFL at the end of the NNL regular season, and will continue their preparation for the NPFL in Lokoja, Kogi state where they will camp ahead of the NPFL season.
