FC Barcelona enter their final group game of the 2016/2017 UEFA Champions League season knowing that irrespective of the result, they will finish as table-toppers. Luis Enrique’s team host Borussia Monchengladbach at the Camp Nou in the sixth and final group C game of the season.
Barça do not need the win as they are confirmed top of the group, but Luis Enrique would not want to lose this game as his side have failed to win in their previous three games. The boss has named a squad list featuring 18 players that will be part of the game against the German side.
Among the absentees from the squad is forward Neymar. Neymar picked up a yellow card in Barça’s 2-0 win against Celtic in Scotland two weeks ago and is suspended for the final group game and he also picked up a slight knock during the game against Real Madrid. Jérémy Mathieu also didn’t make the squad as he is out with an injury, the only Barça player with one.
Midfielder Rafinha Alcántara returns to the squad list after being left out for the Clásico. Samuel Umtiti is set to start ahead of Piqué who played the full 90 minutes against Real Madrid but is not part of the squad. Andrés Iniesta is also likely to return to the starting lineup. Ivan Rakitic joins Neymar in the suspension list and did not make the squad list hence won’t feature in the game.
Aleix Vidal also made the squad list while Jordi Masip also made it in place of the rested TerStegen. Marc Cardona completes the squad after Gerard Pique was given a rest out of it.
