Reigning Africa Champions, the Super Falcons will hope to put an end to South Africa’s Bayana ‘boastful‘ title ambition as they both clash in the second semi final of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations at the Stade Municipal de Limbe on Tuesday.

Nigeria qualified as group B winner after hammering Mali 6-0 in their opening match, played 1-1 with the Black Queens of Ghana before outscoring Kenya 4-0 in their final group game to finish with seven points.

On the other side, the Bayana finished group A second on four points, drawing 0-0 against Zimbabwe, lost 1-0 against hosts Cameroon before beating Egypt 5-0 in their final group encounter.

The two teams are no stranger to each other as they have met eight times, Nigeria winning seven and losing one at the bi-annual tournament against South Africa. Super Falcons only defeat came at the 2012 AWCON semi final where the team lost 1-0.

The nine-time Africa champions who can boast of lethal strikers such as tournament top scorer, Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie, knows that a win against their perennial rivals would be a perfect way of booking a place in the final of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations against the winner between Cameroon and Ghana on Saturday.
