Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Rivers United FC
have taken their pre-season camping exercise to Abuja, ahead of the
2016/17 football season.
The club revealed via its official twitter handle that players and
official of the ‘Pride of Rivers’ arrived the Federal Capital Territory
in Abuja late Sunday night to intensify preparation for the new season.
“We have just arrived in Abuja for the second phase of our pre-season
for the 2016/17 campaign. The hard work starts now,” the club wrote on
twitter. Rivers United finished as NPFL runners-up last season, and will
represent Nigeria on the continent in the CAF Champions League next
year.
Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike promised that the team
would embark on European tour in preparation for the CAF Champions
League during the special dinner organized in honour of the club last
month.
