Ex international, Dosu Joseph has said that the Super Eagles technical adviser, Genort Rohr could qualify the team to the 2018 FIFA World Cup if given the necessary support.
The German tactician was appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation on August, to help the team qualify from a difficult group that saw Nigeria pitted against Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia.
Having begun his reign with a 1-0 win over the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier game last weekend in Uyo, the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist in the Men’s football told Soccernet.com.ng via a telephone chat that he’s optimistic Rohr has the capability of qualifying Nigeria for the World Cup if all hands are on deck.
“To be frank with you, I have this feeling that Genort Rohr has what it takes to make Nigerians smile at the end of the World Cup qualifying campaign. You could witness the little changes he’s gradually implementing into the team when Nigeria played Tanzania in Uyo last weekend,” Dosu told Soccernet.com.ng on Friday.
“Of course you don’t have to judge him with his first game in charge of the senior national team, however, I have this believe that he’ll get the best out of our players by the time we face Zambia, Algeria and Cameroon. I have no doubt that Rohr will qualify the Super Eagles for the 2018 World Cup slated for Russia if he gets adequate support from all and sundry.” he concluded.
Nigeria will face the Chipolopolo of Zambia on October 9 in Lusaka and a good start for Rohr could just be the needed tonic before hosting Algeria in November
