Messi, Suarez, Neymar for Barça vs Leganes
Messi, Suarez and Neymar for Barça against Leganes
FC Barcelona did it just as they would like as they comfortably defeated newly-promoted side Leganes 5-1 away from home with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar all on target.
The Catalan giants surprisingly lost 2-1 at home to Alaves last week but bounced back with a bang in the Champions League beating Celtic 7-0, they were looking to make it happen in the league and they did just that putting up a wonderful display and beating Leganes 5-1.
Luis Enrique started a weird 3-4-3 lineup with Rafinha and Alba playing wide in midfield. Leganes started the brighter side but it was Barça who scored first thanks to their talisman Lionel Messi who tapped into an empty net from a Luis Suarez assist with only 15 minutes played.
It was 2-0 15 minutes later but Luis Suarez was the one on target this time. A poor pass from a Leganes defender found Messi close to the area and the Argentine did beautifully well to carry the ball into the box before setting up Suarez to tap into an empty net.
Leganes came ridiculously close to pulling one back three minutes later after Machis found space on the left inches from the goal but Ter Stegen did well to save and Umtiti blocked the rebound which was heading into the net.
Neymar wouldn’t be left out of the party and he got Barça’s third on the stroke of halftime after coming close earlier on and it was a tap in once again. Messi found Suarez who made a pass to the Brazilian to slot in past Serantes.
It was 4-0 15 minutes after the restart with Lionel Messi grabbing his second. Suarez found Neymar with an outrageous pass and the Brazilian did well to win a penalty which Messi fired into the net past Serantes. The Argentina captain came close to completing his hat-trick on two occasions but was denied by Serantes and the post.
Arda Turan, Alcacer and Denis Suarez came on for Rakitic, Suarez and Iniesta resoectively in the second half.
Rafinha who had a very good game made it 5-0 with the goal of the game, a marvellous long range curler to beat Serantes.
Alcacer came close to scoring but was denied by good Leganes defence and the visitor pulled one back through a sublime free kick well hit by Gabriel with 10 minutes to play.
Messi couldn’t get his third after coming close with a free kick but it was a good victory for Barça.
