Super Eagles winger Victor Moses was on score-sheet as his Chelsea side defeated English League One club Bristol Rovers 3-2 to seal a place in the next round of the English Football League (EFL) Cup.
Victor Moses scored in the 31st minute to put his side 2-0 up after new Chelsea recruit Michy Batshuayi had earlier given Antonio Conte’s side the lead two minutes earlier. Peter Hartley pulled one back for the away side three minutes after Moses’ strike before Batshuayi completed his brace four minutes before the interval to restore Chelsea’s two-goal lead.
Bristol Rovers however didn’t go down without fighting as they pulled one back four minutes after the interval through Ellis Harrison but could not find a leveller before the end of the game.
By virtue of the win Chelsea join other big guns such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hospur in the hat for the third round draws for the competition.
Elsewhere in another game of the EFL, Odion Ighalo’s scored for Watford, but the goal was not good enough as they crashed 2-1 to Gillingham at the Vicarage Road on Tuesday.
Ighalo scored first in the 58th minute, while the duo of Mark Byrne and Bradley Dack scored for Gillingham in the 82nd and 102th minute after extra time, as the game ended 2-1 in favour of the visitors.
