Chelsea could sell John Obi Mikel for £7.7 million this summer as the midfielder has sought for a move to Besiktas, his representative has revealed.
Mikel, 29, has been at Chelsea since 2006 and last season struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting XI.
The Nigeria international could be sold as part of incoming manager Antonio Conte’s squad changes this summer.
And Turkish newspaper, Fotomac, quoted representative Mesrun Izzet as claiming a move to the Super Lig is on the cards.
“Mikel did enquire about Besiktas and there were talks (but) it all depends on what their board decide to do,” Izzet said.
“Money is of course important but Mikel wants first-team football if he is to move.”
Chelsea will reportedly accept a £7.7 million (€9 million) fee for Mikel, who has won the Champions League, Europa League, two Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two League Cups during his time in west London.
Conte is seeking new midfielders, with Roma’s Radja Nainggolan and N’Golo Kante of Leicester on his radar, and needs to make room in his squad for those arrivals.
Nemanja Matic is another midfielder supposedly nearing the Stamford Bridge exit door, with Juventus and Manchester United linked with the 27-year-old Serbia international.
