Luis Suarez wins Aldo Rovira award for 2015/2016 |
Luis Suarez has been award the Aldo Rovira award for the 2015/2016, an annual award to honour the best FC Barcelona player of the past season given by the Catalan media.
The award is given by a jury composed directors and heads of Sports in the Catalan media and Luis Suarez has won the 2015/2016 edition which is the 7th following his wonderful campaign that saw him finish top scorer for the Catalans with 59 goals including 40 in La Liga, adding another impressive 25 assists to help Luis Enrique’s men win 4 trophies.
The performance of the player on the pitch is the major criteria for the Aldo Rovira award but it also focuses on the player’s contribution to the values of the club as well as your loyalty and commitment to the club throughout the season.
The award was established in 2010 in honour and memory of the son of former FC Barcelona director Josep Lluis Rovira who passed on in 2009 in a traffic accident. Past winners of the award are Lionel Messi, who won the last edition and has won it a record 4 times, Eric Abidal and Javier Mascherano.
