Palmeiras football director in Barcelona to negotiate transfer of Gabriel Jesus |
The Sporting Director of Brazilian club Palmeiras travelled to Barcelona to negotiate the possible transfer of star forward Gabriel Jesus to the Catalan giants.
According to various reports in Brazil led by UOL Esporte, Palmeiras football director Alexandre Mattos travelled to Spain this week to talk with FC Barcelona about a future transfer of Gabriel Jesus to Camp Nou.
Barcelona are one of the main followers of Gabriel Jesus who is considered the best talent currently in Brazil. The player has a €40 million release clause but was reduced to €24 million for some top clubs of which Barça are among.
UOL report that there are talks currently going on but the idea is for Gabriel Jesus to continue at Palmeiras until December as the club need him to help them fight for the Brazilian league title.
Barcelona have been following Gabriel Jesus for some time now, the 19-year old Neymar-like player is catching the eye of Europe’s top clubs and Inter Milan will stand in Barça’s way for his signature. The Italian club have exercised strong interests for the player over the past week but a major difficulty for them is that, unlike Barça, they’ll have to pay his complete €40 million clause to get him to their club.

Barça are already preparing for the future and have already signed three young players this summer with defender Lucas Digne the latest after Samuel Umtiti and Denis Suarez were announced. Adding a 19-year old world class talent like Gabriel Jesus would be a boost for the Catalans who are also following Atletico Madrid striker Luciano Vietto.
