National U-23 side, Dream Team VI struggled past local side
Charleston Battery with a 1-0 win in what was a rescheduled warm-up game
in Atlanta, United States, after the initial game was called off due to
heavy downpour.
Defender Stanley Amuzie scored the only goal of the game in the 33rd
minute, which turned out to be the match-winner, against a team with an
average of 17 years. Samson Siasia’s team had numerous chances to add to
their tally but failed to add to the lone goal and were let off the
hook in first half stoppage time after their opponents had a goal
disallowed.
The U-23 team would be hoping for a better outing in the final warm-up game against fellow Rio-bound team Honduras on July 27.
