Spanish forward Nolito have confirmed that there have not been any contact from either Manchester City or Barcelona concerning a transfer away from Celta Vigo this summer, insisting he’s only focused on the ongoing Euro 2016 tournament.
FC Barcelona are desperately in search of a forward and have been targeting Nolito for a long time, reports however claimed in the past week that the player is on the verge of joining English team Manchester City, but Nolito have made it know that there have been nothing official.
“I’m proud that two great coaches like [Barcelona boss] Luis Enrique and [Manchester City manager Pep] Guardiola are interested,” he told.La Vanguardia.
“I’m lucky that they have me in mind; it gives you a boost. But I’m focusing on the Euros and nothing else. I haven’t spoken to either of them.”
Barça were close to signing Nolito in January but were reluctant to meet the player’s 18 million Euro release clause, Manchester City are now in pole position to sign the player as new coach Pep Guardiola is a big fan of his.
“I’m enjoying it like a kid would and I’m not thinking about whether Barca will sign a forward. If Barcelona sign a striker then no problem. I congratulate them.”
