Manchester United fail to go fourth after losing to West Ham

They just needed a win to go fourth on the log with just a game to play but Manchester United wouldn’t get it as they were beaten 3-2 against West Ham in the Hammers’ final game at the Boleyn Ground which means Louis Van Gaal’s men will go into the last day of the season in 5th spot and will be hoping Man City lose in their next game to have a chance to make the CL group stages. The game didn’t start well as some West Ham fans had a mini-riot before kickoff which meant that the game would be shifted to kickoff an our later. Finally, the very promising encounter kicked off and it was West Ham United who dominated throughout the first half. The Hammers got the lead after just 10 minutes with Sakho doing well to slot Lanzini’s cut back into the bottom corner. It was all-West Ham in the first half and Andy Carroll missed a sitter moments later. It was a miracle that the scoreline was still at 1-0 as West Ham had 10 shots in the first half compared to United’s one. The second half would turn out to be a different story as Man United woke up from their 45-minute slumber.Anthony Martial got the equalizer for Man United just 6 minutes into the second half thanks to great work from Juan Mata to set a tap-in for him. The Frenchman put smiles in the faces of the reds 20 minutes later as he pulled off some great work to put Louis Van Gaal’s men in the lead with less than 20 minutes left to play.West Ham didn’t let the party last though as they equalized four minutes later thanks to a wonderful header by Michail Antonio who did well to put away Payet’s cross in the right angle. The pressure grew and Man United couldn’t just hold one and they conceded a third 5 minutes later courtesy of a header from Reid who met Payet’s freekick perfectly. 3-2 it ended as West Ham bid farewell to their old ground.
