Wikki Tourists 3-0 Plateau United
A Godwin Obaje brace helped the hosts hand a severe bashing to their guests from Jos, pummeling Plateau Umited by three unreplied goals.
Plateau United came into this tie basking in their 2-1 win over Warri Wolves at the weekend but were easily deflated by two first half goals and a third late in the game.
Godwin Obaje drew first blood, firing in a low shot from Emenike Onuoha’s assist on the half hour mark before he grabbed his brace just three minutes later, striking low into the corner off a Waziri Christopher’s assist.
Abubakar Lawal added a third from close range in the 87th minute to ensure United return to Plateau with an empty bag.
Giwa 2-1 Rivers
Rivers clipped the wings of Ifeanyi Ubah with a 2-0 bashing on Sunday but fell to the same scoreline in Jos at the hands of Giwa FC.
Rivers United clearly missed Frederick Obomate, their talismanic midfielder currently writing his 400 level, first semester Structural Analysis (three) examinations at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST).
A goal in the 8th minute from Moses Opitoke and another by David Sunday in the 71st minute was all the hosts needed to drown out a consolation strike from Godbless Asamoah for United.
MFM 2-1 Sunshine Stars
MFM, embarrassed in Ibadan by a Wasiu Jimoh hattrick, returned to winning ways by out-gunning 10-man Sunshine Stars 2-1 on Wednesday in a Match Day 4 NPFL game.
Musa Newman put MFM ahead in the 25th minute but 13 minutes later, Kadiri Samad even the scored after finishing off a typical run by Stanley Dimgba to even scores.
With only 4 minutes of play left, Stephen Odey restored MFM’s lead before Sunshine Stars’ Sunday Abbey got sent off for a second bookable offence.
Lobi Stars 3-0 El-Kanemi
Two Tony Okpotu penalties was all Lobi Stars needed to have the scalp of 10-man El-Kanemi Warriors for lunch in Makurdi, the homers showing no signs of the side that fell 0-1 to newcomers Ikorodu United at the Onikan Stadium at the weekend.
The hosts got the opener with barely 5 minutes of the match played when Tony Okpotu scored from the spot after he was felled in the box.
The task got even harder for the visitors in the second half after a red card was shown to Yahaya who fouled Lobi’s goal-bound Nasiru in the box.
Okpotu scored the resulting spotkick.
The third goal came in the 70th minute via the boots of Nanem Imenger.
Niger Tornadoes 2-0 Nasarawa United
Two second half goals from Ismaila Gata helped Tornadoes overcome the challenge of Nasarawa Utd in Minna.
Ismaila Gata got his opener from a free kick in the 39th minute before netting his brace on the hour mark.
