Diego Simeone reportedly agrees to Chelsea deal

There are reports that Athletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has agreed to become the next Chelsea manager in a deal worth a staggering £9.28 million (€12 million) a year.

It was disclosed that Simeone notified the management of the Spanish club that he will leave the club at the end of the season to take over from interim boss Guus Hiddink at Stamford Bridge.

The blues have been without a permanent manager since they parted ways with Jose Mourinho in December 2015.

Pep Guardiola’s move to Manchester City has made Simeone the primary target and Roman Abrahamovic has showed interest in the former Argentine international.

Simeone has guided Atletico to five major trophies during his reign; La Liga, Europa League, Super Cup, Copa del Rey and the Super copa de Espana since 2011 when he joined since taking over from current Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores.

Also, ousted Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is on the verge of sealing a deal to take over from Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United. The Portugese has been tipped to succeed the Dutchman at Old Trafford if United fire Van Gaal.

It was disclosed that United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward had agreed to terminate the contract of the current coach, and with Mourinho available following his departure from Chelsea before Christmas, he is seen as the ideal candidate.

However, much will depend on if Manchester United’s form improve between now and the end of the season. The Dutchman has to ensure United qualify for the UEFA champions league; failure to do so may automatically certify his exit from United.
