Nigeria and Watford striker Odion Ighalo has been named winner of the 2015 Complete Sports Player of the Year award.
The Hornets forward netted 32 goals for club and country in 2015, including 14 goals in his debut season in the Premier League so far this term.
“I give thanks to God and the fans who voted for me,” Ighalo told the organizers of the awards. “I had a great year in 2015 and this very important award means I have been recognised by my own people, my fellow Nigerians.”
“Being Complete Sports Player of the Year gives me the zeal to work even harder. Thanks to my fans for all their support, God bless them.”
The Nigerian striker, who only arrived Hertfordshire in July 2014, scored more goals in 2015 than any other player in England’s top four leagues.
Ighalo beat Obafemi Martins, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa and Victor Osimhen to the award.
