The Home Eagles lost 0-1 to the Syli Nationale of Guinea in their final group game as the Home Eagles looked as a shadow of themselves as in the first game against Nigeria Republic in the Opener.
The Home Eagles crashed when it was least expected but that is football for you as the Home Eagles are surely heading Home as they are called.
It was a very disappointing afternoon of football from the CHAN Eagles and in Nigeria football by all standard where the players were unable inspire on the field of play.
We review the players who pitched their tent against Guinea on that sore match. SoccerNet Nigeria takes a look at how the Home Eagles players rated against the Syli stars of Guinea.
GOALKEEPER
IKECHUKWU EZENWA (6.0)
The goal tender was rarely tested but could do nothing about the goal resulting from a defensive mix up. Great save from a distant free-kick drive.
DEFENDERS
MATTHEW ETIM (5.0)
Had an average game in defence as he made interceptions but could not make the accurate final pass for a forward move.
AUSTIN OBAROAKPO (5.0)
The defender showed slack movement at time at the back, his clearance was not good enough either, just offered physical presence with occasional defensive work.
JAMIU ALIMI (6.0)
The defender had a good game in defensive but could not make quick forward passes when Nigeria was searching for an equalizer.
CHIMA AKAS (4.5)
The left back dwelt too long on the ball and was content in passing the ball to the tight corners, poor free kick from a decent position and could not inspire his team to victory.
MIDFIELDERS
PAUL ONOBI (4.0)
An uncharacteristic performance from the midfielder that many wondered on the day why he wore the number 10 shirt, was hauled off for the sensational Chikatara.
IFEANYI MATTHEW (6.5)
The young lad was one of the few quality performer on the day. He ran the strings in midfield stringing passes but could not do it alone. He was unlucky to be in a losing team.
USMAN MOHAMMED (6.0)
The midfield player was a shining light for the team, pulling the trigger in midfield but was subbed due to injury which added work load to the youth Ifeanyi Matthew.
ATTACKERS
PRINCE AGGREH (5.0)
Could not assert himself well in the game as the Eagles lost grip of the midfield to the Guineans. Made a couple of few runs.
TUNDE ADENIJI (4.0)
The forward was poor on the night as his first touch and decision-making was questionable. Look stiff and not full of running.
OSAS OKORO (6.0)
The forward had a good game as he had to do it all alone as his team mates (Adeniji) failed to come to the party.
SUBSTITUTES
BATARU YARO (5.5)
The midfielder did some few nice work but compounded the Eagles woe by hitting an ambitious short way-ward away from goal as the Eagles tasted defeat on the night.
CHISOM CHIKATARA (6.0)
Had a cagey game as he was well marked. Was enterprising in the midst of defenders as he held the ball up to tee up his teammate. He was a course for concern for the Guineans.
ONYEDIKACHI BRIGHT (6.0)
Made a good cameo appearance as his running and effort was encouraging. Could he equalized with a nice volley towards goal as Guinea defender nodded away to safety with the keeper already beaten in goal.
