CHAN 2016: Morocco announces squad for tournament

Morocco on Wednesday announce the 23-player squad which will compete at the 2016 African Nations Championship.

It will be the Atlas Lions’ second appearance at the continental tournament, whose latest edition will take place in Rwanda from January 16 to February 7.

They will be looking to reach the last four of the competition after falling to Nigeria in the quarterfinals of the last edition in South Africa in 2014.

Morocco’s locally-based national team coach M’hamed Fakhir looked to Raja Casablanca and FUS Rabat for the core of his squad, with the two domestic giants providing 5 players each.

The local Lions will launch their CHAN campaign against Gabon in Kigali on 16 January, before taking on their other two Group A opponents, Côte d’Ivoire and tournament’s hosts Rwanda.
