The victorious Dream Team IV in ecstasy celebrating their victory after the final with Algeria
As the CAF U-23 Championship in Dakar, Senegal ended, and Nigeria Dream Team VI defeated the Algerians at the final with a pair of goals from star forward Etebo Oghenekaro.
The first goal came in the 14th minutes via the penalty spot while the second was a solo individual goal as the Algerians had to benefit from Nigeria center half Segun Oduduwa who put the ball into his own net.
It was a good finish though for the Samson Siasia led boys as they clinch a 2-1 win over Algeria to secure the trophy, going into the Olympics as African Champions.
Even with the victory we captured the performance of players who filed out for the Dream Team VI to secure the famous win against North African rivals Algeria.
SoccerNet Nigeria takes a look at how the Dream VI Team rated against the Algerians.
EMMANUEL DANIEL (7.5)
The Rangers goalie was magnificent as he made brilliant saves in the game especially the Penalty save to deny Algeria an equalizer. Was calm and commanding between the sticks.
SINCERE SETH (6.5)
Ran down the right flank and delivered in some inviting crosses. Combined well with the midfield and was decent in the defence as well.
CHIZOBA AMAEFULE (6.5)
The center half was at the heart of every defensive work .A solid performance from the young defender.
SEGUN ODUDUWA (6.0)
Was jittery at early exchanges as he scored an own goal but grew into the game as he made crucial clearance from a set piece.
NDIFREKE EFFIONG (6.0)
Was decent going forward and tracked back from his left back position to halt an Algeria counter attack.
AZUBUIKE OKECHUKWU (6.0)
The midfield player showed quality in ball distribution but was once again guilty of some fouls and misplaced passes.
USMAN MOHAMMED (6.0)
He showed quality in possession as he drew fouls from the Algerians, but not the best of awareness from the midfielder.
ETEBO OGHENEKARO (8.0)
Was a torn in the flesh of the opponent as he ran riot from the free role drawing fouls on many occasions .What a way to cap off the tournament with a brace with much delight to the second goal.
JUNIOR AJAYI (6.5)
Could not supply the accurate pass to Osimhen but combined well on the flank and troubled the Algerian backline especially in the Second period.
TIONGOLI TONGARA (5.5)
The forward worked tirelessly but still could not influence the game as he was hurled off some minutes after the intermission.
VICTOR OSIMHEN (6.0)
Missed a chance to register a goal early on in the game. Was man marked in the game as his fear factor made the Algerians work their socks off him.
KUFRE EBONG (5.0)
Came on for Osimhen and added width to the Nigerian attack with runs in behind the defenders.
BATARU YARO (5.0)
Troubled the Algerians on entrance into the game but his deliveries from the corner kicks were not the best.
