Ten minutes into the second half, Maria José Perez returned the favour, assisting Monday to double the home side’s advantage.

Monday has now recorded eight goals in 14 league games for Tenerife while her four goals in only three matches in January makes her one of the most in-form players in the Spanish top flight.

Meanwhile in Turkey, Nigeria international Olanrewaju Kayode is fast becoming a fans’ favourite at Esenler Erokspor after netting the winning goal for the club for the second consecutive game.

A few days after joining the club from Şanlıurfaspor, Kayode scored on his debut, the only goal in a 1-0 win against Adanaspor.

On Saturday, the former Girona forward repeated the trick as his 30th-minute strike was all Şanlıurfaspor needed to secure a 1-0 victory over Yeni Malatyaspor.

Following Kayode’s inspiring displays, Şanlıurfaspor have recorded six points from their last two games which has lifted them to 13th on the league table, four points above the relegation zone.

At the Bolu Atarturk Stadium, Oghenekaro Etebo produced another accomplished performance in midfield as Gençlerbirliği carved out a fine 2-0 away win at Boluspor.

Gençlerbirliği have now won each of their last three games and kept a clean sheet in their last four.

It is an impressive run that has made Gençlerbirliği the joint-third best defensive team in the 1 Lig and catapulted them to fifth on the league table.
