Following the poor outing by his midfielders during 0-0 draw against Tanzania last weekend, Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has confirmed he will recall Torino of Italy midfielder, Joel Obi to the team when he returns from injury.
The former Inter Milan midfielder was one of the overseas based players invited for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania, but withdrew due to injury.
And Oliseh has told News24 that he is an admirer of the 24-year old, and will have him back when he’s fully fit and has returned to action.
“Joel Obi is the kind of player we don’t have a lot of,” Oliseh began, “What I mean is, he can win balls for you and he can start an attack at his best.
“His volume of play is high but he is injury prone, but I can’t say much about it because I don’t have his medical records.

“His absence from the game against Tanzania was because he was injured; he was convalescent and I think he just came back to training and I spoke to him.
“He was even willing to come down but I trust him and I don’t see any reason why he should lie and added to the fact he joined a new club and the club said he wasn’t fit.
“But when he is fit again and he is playing, I will invite him again,” Oliseh posited.
