Luis Enrique has named 20 players that will travel to Rome to take on Italian Giants AS Roma in their 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League opener
Barcelona kick-off their defence of their UEFA Champions League crown when they travel to Italy to take on AS Roma at the Stadio Olympico on Wednesday, 16th September and Luis Enrique has named his official squad for the tie.
The Asturian coach, who will be playing against his former team has listed 20 players in the squad that will travel to Milan for the tie with Barça B players Jose Suarez and Gerard Gambau included.
Dani Alves, Douglas Pereira, Thomas Vermaelen and Claudio Bravo all miss out through injuries with the goalkeeper replaced by Jordi Masip whose spot was taken by B-team goalkeeper Jose Suarez.
Luis Enrique will still have to do without new signings Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal as both players are still out through the FIFA suspension. However, Gerard Pique who has been serving a four-game ban in La Liga will return for the Catalans in the game as his suspension has nothing to do with the UEFA Champion’s League.
Barcelona come into the game with full confidence after they got a comfortable 2-1 win over Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid during the weekend. They also dispatched the Rome outfit in this year’s Joan Gamper trophy but will surely be facing a much different team.
