The Liga president stated that the Catalans will play a Liga game on a Friday before competing in the UCL whilst also confirming the date for El Clasico
The president of La Liga, Javier Tebas has revealed that Barcelona will play a League game on a Friday this season the week before a Uefa Champions League game.
“Barcelona can play on a Friday once in the league a week before participating in the Uefa Champions League,” Tebas said during an interview in the ‘Primer Toc’ programme with Catalan source RAC1.
This will provide a huge boost for the Catalans as the players will have at least one extra day to rest before taking part in a Uefa Champions League game in midweek.
Tebas also confirmed during the interview, the date for the first leg of El Clasico on Match-day 12. He made it clear that the fixture will be played on Saturday, November 21 but still isn’t yet sure of the kick-off time.
“It (The Clasico) may be played at 4:00pm, at 6:15pm or 8:30pm.. We have spoken with Telefonica and should be considered in all markets,” he said.
Barcelona take on Athletic Bilbao in their La Liga opener at the San Mames on Sunday as they look to defend the title.
