Messi And Iniesta Match Xavi's 25 Barça Trophies

After a hard fought win over Sevilla in a tense Uefa Super Cup final clash, Barcelona duo Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta secured their 25th official trophy at the club, equalling Xavi Hernandez’ all-time record for player with most trophies at Barça.

A 115th-minute strike from Pedro gave Barça their 4th title of the year but it meant more than just a victory for Iniesta and Messi who joined their former teammate on 25 trophies.

Xavi Hernández, who spent 17 seasons in the first team won 6 Spanish Super Cups, 2 Club World Cups, 2 European Super Cups, 8 Ligas, 3 Copas del Rey and 4 Uefa Champions Leagues.

However, Xavi’s two former team mates have both matched the star’s total each amassing 3 Spanish Super Cups, 2 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 7 Ligas, 3 Copas del Rey and 4 Uefa Champions Leagues.

Interestingly, Messi and Iniesta could move clear off Xavi’s trophy haul as they’ll both take part in next Friday’s Spanish Super Cup first leg tie against Athletic Bilbao. Should Barça also collect that title, then they will have both won their 26th major titles, setting new club records. The Club World Cup in Japan is also in the card.

Aside Messi and Iniesta, Dani Alves, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets and Pedro all won their 20th title for the club amassing 5 Ligas, 3 Uefa Champions Leagues, 3 Copas del Rey, 3 European Super Cups, 4 Spanish Super Cups and 2 Club World Cups. They still have the chance to make it 22 at the end of the year with the Spanish Super Cup and the Club World Cup in sight.
