How Nigerian Players Fared Across Europe

Here's a review of the performance of Nigerian players that were in action on Sunday for their European clubs.
West Ham shocked Arsenal 2 – 0 at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon, with Italy international Angelo Ogbonna making his debut in the Premier League, going the full 90. Alex Iwobi did not make the Gunners match day squad.
Super Eagles forward Peter Odemwingie came off the bench in the 78th minute but could not save from Stoke City from defeat at home to Liverpool.
In Germany, Bayern Munich qualified for the next round of the DFB Cup, beating Noettingen 3 – 1 David Alaba was not selected for the game.[post_ad]
In the Jupiler League, Super Eagles strikers Moses Simon and Imoh Ezekiel hopped off the bench in the 46th and 61st minute respectively as Anderlecht held Gent to a 1 – 1 draw. Stefano Okaka subbed on in the 72nd minute for Anderlecht.
Over in Holland, ex Belgium youth international Funso Ojo lasted the distance as Willem II played out a 1 – 1 draw with Vitesse. Nigerian strikers Abiola Dauda and Dominic Solanke failed to make the teamsheet for the visitors.{p}
In the second round of matches in the Scottish Premier League, Efe Ambrose was an unused substitute in Celtic’s 2 – 0 win over Partick Thistle.
Elsewhere, Bodo/Glimt midfielder Dominic Chatto made his seventh start of the season and helped his team defeat Solomon Owello’s IK Start 5 – 1. The ex Flying Eagles playmaker lasted 80 minutes on the pitch while Chatto went the distance.
Also in Norway, William Troost – Ekong suited up for the second time for Haugesund in their 3 – 1 win over Aalesund.
Golden Boot Soccer Academy product Sadeeq Yusuf made his debut for FKH but was replaced 13 minutes from time after being involved in the second goal scored by Christian Gytkjær
Leke James and Akeem Latifu started and completed the game, with the later scoring a spot kick in the 54th minute.
In another 19th round match in the Premier League, Fred Friday threw away his penalty kick two minutes out of intermission . Lillestrom would eventually lose the game 5 – 0 to Rosenborg.
LSK midfielder Innocent Bonke subbed out in the 71st minute while Friday was on the pitch till the final whistle.
In the last game played on Sunday, Chuks Akabueze continued his rich vein of form, scoring in the 57th minute to bring Odd Grenland back into the game after they were trailing Molde 2 – 0. It ended 2 – 2 in Skien.
Across the border in Sweden, John Owoeri was in action for 88 minutes as åtvidaberg played out a goalless draw with Halmstad in the 19th round.
In Finland, Emenike Mbachu was substituted 15 minutes from time in Ilves’ 2 – 0 defeat of KTP.
Czech Republic vice – champions Sparta Prague recovered from their Champions League loss to CSKA Moscow midweek after beating Zlin 3 – 0. Kehinde Fatai worked 77 minutes in attack but fired blanks.
In Russia, new signing Sylvester Igboun was one of the liveliest players on the pitch but his efforts were in vain as Ufa lost 1 – 0 to RPL powerhouse Zenith St Petersburg. He played the full 90 for the third game in a row.
