English Premier League
Hull City
v Burnley
Venue: KC Stadium
Time: 3pm
Sone Aluko’s Hull
City face a crucial match against
fellow relegation battlers Burnley at the KC
stadium on Saturday as they bid to remain in the English top flight. The match
will go a long way in determining the future of both teams in the English
Premier League.
Steve Bruce’s Hull City currently
lie in 17th position with 34 points with just a point off the final relegation
spot, while Burnley’s situation looks precarious as they currently occupy the
last position in the league table with just 26 points.
Both sides have had contrasting
fortunes coming into the match as they seek to avoid relegation. Hull City which
featured Sone Aluko in their line up in the 1-3 defeat to Arsenal at the KC
Stadium on Monday had recorded consecutive victories over Crystal Palace and Liverpool in
their bid to stay up this season prior to the defeat to Arsene Wenger’s in form
side. While Burnley on the other hand, have
only picked up just one point in their last six games. Sean Dyche’s side lost
to West Ham in their last outing, and their form has suffered in the last few
weeks due largely to problems with scoring goals as striker Danny Ings has gone
more than two months without scoring.
It looks bleak for Burnley at the
moment, and a defeat against Hull
City will effectively
confirm their relegation to the Championship next season. They are currently 8
points behind Hull
City, and a defeat will
leave them 11 points from safety with just two matches left to play.
Speaking on the importance of the
match after the 1-3 defeat to Arsenal on Monday, Hull
City manager, Steve Bruce claimed the
match was now crucial to their survival hopes but it was not a defining game
for the Lancashire side.
“The Burnley
game is not going to keep us up or send us down. But it’s a big game, we’re
aware of that, so a result would be good.” he said.
Sone Aluko and his compatriots would
be hoping to get the victory that would effectively keep them in the
Premiership next season if other results go their way at the weekend.
The Super Eagles forward would be
looking to banish the nightmare of the chance he missed in the early stages of
the match against Arsenal when the game was still goalless.
It promises to be an interesting
game especially with alot riding on it.
