According to reports from the Netherlands, former European champions, Ajax are interested in
signing Nigerian left back, Kingsley Madu. The 19 year old plies his trade in Slovakia with
AS Trencin.

His solid performances at left back
which has seen him record a goal and two assists in ten league games has drawn
the attention of some of Europe’s biggest
clubs to his talent. Apart from Ajax, other
clubs reported to be interested in signing him includes recently crowned
Eredivise champions, PSV, Scottish champions, Celtic and Belgian Jupiler league
side, Gent.
Kingsley Madu won the Slovakian
league cup with AS Trencin recently and they currently lead the Slovakian Super
League. If they secure the title, they will enter into the preliminary rounds
of the UEFA Champions League next season. The 19 year old who was formerly on
the books of El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri joined Trencin in January, 2014 on
a three year deal.
Kingsley Madu was a member of the Flying
Eagles squad at the 2013 U20 World Cup in Turkey. He spots jersey number 15 for
his club and he stands at 5ft 9in.
The Slovakian club still has on it
books, another Nigerian, former 2007 U17 World Cup winning midfielder, Rafiu
Ibrahim.
Besides Kingsley Madu and Rafiu
Ibrahim who are still with Trencin, former Flying Eagles forward Moses Daddy
Simon spent one year with the Slovakian club before joining Belgian side Genk in January, 2015. He
had previously joined AS Trencin the same day as Kingsley Madu on 13 January,
2014.
If the deal goes through, Kingsley
Madu will join the long list of Nigerian players that have played for Ajax over the years. A
list that includes legends, George Finidi and Nwankwo Kanu, who were both part
of the Ajax team that won the 1995 UEFA
Champions League when the Amsterdam side
defeated AC Milan 1-0 in the finals in Vienna.
Former Super Eagles winger, Tijani
Babaginda was also at a time on the books of Ajax.
