The La Liga outfit, on behalf of the family of the late goalkeeper, also expressed gratitude to fans for the countless signs of affection that have been coming to the club on a sad day for everyone.
The remains of late Wilfred was laid to rest in Spain with Rayo president and other dignitaries in attendance.
His children, Wilson and Wintia, arrived Spain on Wednesday morning to witness their father’s burial.
The Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas is the fourth largest football facility in the Madrid territory with an all-sitter capacity of 15,500, after Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernebeu, Atletico Madrid’s Vicente Calderon and Getafe’s Coliseum Alfonso Perez. It was opened on May 10, 1976.
