PSV Eindhoven winger, Bobby Adekanye,is likely to make a return to Barcelona in February.
According to Spanish newspaper, Mundo Deportivo,Bobby joined PSV on loan because he can’t play at Barcelona until he turns 16 due to the illegal way he was acquired by the Catalan giants.
Adekanye is among the set of players acquired by Barcelona illegally, which lead FIFA to hand them a transfer ban.
It’s yet to be seen if the claim made by the Spanish newspaper is true, as it runs contrary to a report by SL10.ng which quoted his dad giving his blessings to his son who signed a deal for one year with PSV Eindhoven.
”Bobby will start this week with PSV Eindhoven. He’ll sign with them on Friday, and will play for their Under 16 and 17 teams.
”We need to wait and see how he’ll adapt to his new club. He doesn’t have any problem with any club in Holland,” Bobby Adekanye’s father, Ademola Adekanye, told SL10.ng in November 2014.
The teenager, who has represented the youth teams of VV Alphia and Ajax Amsterdam before his move to Barcelona, is eligible for Nigeria and the Netherlands
He was rumoured to have been invited to the Nigeria Under- 17 team but he denied the news but made known his interest to play for Nigeria if called up by the youth team handlers.
“I was born in Nigeria and I love Nigeria. My father always tells me Nigeria is our home. We are all coming home next year by the power of God because we still have family there,” Bobby Adekanye said.
