It will be a wonderfully pleasant surprise to football fans in Nigeria, most especially the Barcelona faithfuls as their star Neymar is set to be part of a Brazilian side that will take on Nigeria on March 29 at the newly-unveiled Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo.
The last time the Eagles played Brazil in Nigeria was back in 2003, when the South American side registered a comfortable 3-0 win in Abuja.
The news of next March’s fixture was confirmed by Akwa Ibom Governor Godswill Akpabio at the opening of the Akwa Ibom Stadium on Friday night.
“I have been directed by the NFF to tell you that Brazil will field the full complement of its stars for the match, including Barcelona star Neymar,” he said.
The Akwa Ibom Stadium will also host the AFCON 2015 qualifier between Nigeria and South Africa which takes place on November 19 as re-appointed manager, Stephen Keshi looks to bring the African Champions back to form.
