FC Barcelona B forward Jean Marie Dongou’s glorious performance last season hasn’t gone unnoticed as he has been nominated for ‘the Best African Player in the Segunda Division’. The Cameroonian forward will compete for the award against Deportivo’s Ibrahim Sissoko and Jaén’s Ritchie Kitoko.
Dongou’s nomination for the award comes after a season during which the 19-year-old played 30 out of his team’s 42 matches in the league, in which he contributed 8 goals.
Although this figure barely looks impressive, for a close Barça B follower Dongou’s contribution to Barça B’s exploits last season was much more than his goals. That said, Dongou already looks set to attend next year’s gala, given that he has almost bettered last year’s goal tally just 9 matches into the season.
The youngster is so far the third Barca B player to be nominated by the LFP after Jorge Masip and Sergi Samper.
