Super Eagles transfer: Chippa United target Orlando Pirates goalie as Nwabali nears exit

Chippa United have reportedly set their sights on Orlando Pirates’ young goalkeeper Ethan Visagie as they prepare for life after Stanley Nwabali, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nwabali, who has impressed for both club and country, is widely expected to leave the Chilli Boys at the end of the current campaign.

The Super Eagles shot-stopper has attracted interest from domestic giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, as well as several European clubs following his standout displays for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and in World Cup qualifiers.

According to insiders close to the situation, Chippa United have identified 20-year-old Visagie as a potential successor to Nwabali.

The young goalkeeper joined Orlando Pirates at the start of the season but is yet to make an official appearance for the Buccaneers.

“They are believed to have enquired about Pirates goalkeeper Ethan Visagie. They are preparing to find a replacement for Stanley when he leaves at the end of the season,” a source revealed to the Siya crew. “Yes, he hasn’t played any official games for Pirates, but scouts who know him have recommended him to Chippa United. They believe he could be a perfect fit.”

While no deal has been agreed upon yet, the interest from Chippa is believed to be genuine, as the club looks to secure a solid long-term replacement between the sticks.
