Report: 19-time Serie A champions eye Super Eagles’ Onyedika

Serie A giants AC Milan have reignited their pursuit of Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika ahead of the summer transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Rossoneri, seven-time UEFA Champions League winners, have reportedly opened discussions with Club Brugge as they look to bring the Nigerian midfielder to Italy.

Milan had previously shown interest in Onyedika last summer but failed to meet Club Brugge’s €24 million valuation.

Club Brugge Rejects AC Milan Offer

Milan recently submitted an €18 million bid for Onyedika, aiming to secure the midfielder on a five-year deal.

However, reports from Africa Foot confirm that Club Brugge is preparing to reject the offer, considering it below their valuation of the 23-year-old.

Despite this setback, the Italian club remains keen on the move and could return with an improved offer as they seek reinforcements in midfield for the upcoming season.

Crystal Palace’s Previous Interest in Onyedika

Prior to Milan’s renewed push, Soccernet.ng earlier reported that English Premier League side Crystal Palace had also been monitoring Onyedika as they looked to strengthen their midfield.

The Eagles were interested in both Onyedika and Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Palace’s sporting director, Dougie Freedman, was reportedly impressed after personally scouting the Nigerian midfielder. However, no formal bid was submitted, leaving the door open for Milan to push forward with negotiations.

Who Might Replace Onyedika at Brugge?

With Onyedika’s potential departure on the horizon, Club Brugge have already identified possible replacements. According to Belgian reports citing Germanijak.hr, the club has listed Croatian midfielder Leon Belcar as a candidate to fill the Nigerian’s role.

Belcar, currently playing for NK Varaždin, has earned attention for his performances and could be a strong addition to Brugge’s midfield should Onyedika leave for Milan this summer.

As the transfer window approaches, all eyes remain on AC Milan’s next move, with Club Brugge holding firm on their valuation.
