Transfers: Seven-time Ligue 1 champions eye Super Eagles’ Igoh Ogbu – Report

French giants Olympique Lyonnais are reportedly interested in signing Nigerian defender Igoh Ogbu ahead of the summer transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.

According to a report from Africafoot, the seven-time Ligue 1 champions have identified Ogbu as a key target to bolster their defence for next season.

The 25-year-old centre-back currently plies his trade with Czech side Slavia Prague and has attracted interest from several European clubs.

Lyon are said to have initiated talks with the player’s representatives several weeks ago and have made significant progress in convincing the Super Eagles prospect to join them.

The report claims that Ogbu has already agreed to personal terms with the Ligue 1 side, and discussions are now ongoing between Lyon and Slavia Prague to reach an agreement on the transfer fee.

Ogbu has impressed with his performances in the Czech Republic, and his physical presence have made him a standout figure for his club.

Should the deal go through, Ogbu would become the latest Nigerian to feature in France’s top flight. He will join the likes of Terem Moffi, and Simon Moses, who are currently plying their trade in France.

Who is Igoh Ogbu?

Igoh Ogbu, born on February 8, 2000, in Jos, Nigeria, is a professional footballer who plays as a central defender for the Czech club Slavia Prague.

He began his football journey with Gombe United in Nigeria before moving to Norway in February 2018 to join Rosenborg on a four-year contract.
