Wilfred Ndidi outshines Mac Allister, Casemiro in key Premier League stat despite injury woes

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi ranks fourth among Premier League midfielders with the highest number of defensive actions this season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ndidi has been one of Leicester City’s best players this season despite their struggles since gaining promotion to the English Premier League.

The 28-year-old Nigerian midfielder has registered 15 appearances in the Premier League, with four assists to his name.

However, he has been out of action since the start of December, missing the Foxes last six games across all competitions. Since his injury, they have only managed one win, and that was against Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup.

Leicester City have conceded at least two goals in all the games since Ndidi got injuried. Now, a new report by Data MB has provided insight has to why the club has been struggling.

According to their findings, Ndidi has the fourth highest number of defensive actions in the Premier League this season.

Ndidi has registered 181 actions, only behind Moises Caicedo, Ryan Gravenberch, and Bruno Guimaraes.

He is better in that statistic than other top midfielders in the league like Alexis Mac Allister, Casemiro, Youri Tielemans.

There is no other Leicester City midfielder in the top 16, and that could be a reason for their struggles since Ndidi got injured.

The Foxes are fighting for their lives in the Premier League currently. They sit 19th, two points away from safety.

Nonetheless, Ndidi will return to action within the next two weeks, and coach Ruud Van Nistelrooy will hope that their fortunes improve.
