“We know he’ll help us” – Everything Valencia’s Sporting Director said about Sadiq Umar

Valencia’s Sporting Director, Miguel Ángel Corrona, has shared his delight at the opportunity to sign Super Eagles striker, Sadiq Umar, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old started just two games for Real Sociedad in the first half of the 2024/2025 La Liga season and had to find greener pastures to put his career back on track.

Sadiq joined Valencia on a six-month loan today and the deal included an option to buy when the season ends. However, Corrona was delighted to have brought the Nigerian on board.

“Welcome Sadiq and thank you for your confidence. We’ve been talking for a few weeks and it’s immense satisfaction that the market has just begun to present you as a Valencia CF player. We think he’s going to bring us a lot in attack. He’s going to give us a lot of options, being compatible with all the players we have in the squad and getting used to them and having played, at times, upfront all alone.

We have a lot of confidence, we know he’s going to help us. We wish him all the luck in the world and he is at full disposal of the coach from now on. Today, in fact, he has come to do a training session even though he was not scheduled for the group and it is one more example, as he has been demonstrating to me all these weeks of conversations of the desire he had to join our project and wear the Valencia shirt,” the former Almeria midfielder said as revealed by the club’s official website.

With Valencia languishing in 19th place on the La Liga table, their Sporting Director revealed he brought Sadiq in to help improve the team.

“We fully trust the template we have. We added one more striker to the cause, knowing the misfortunes we’ve had in that position. We have spoken openly about strengthening the right side due to another misfortune. From there, whatever we consider and what we can do to improve the team, we will.”

Sadiq could make his Valencia debut in the Copa Del Rey on Tuesday when his new side take on second-tier Spanish side, Eldense.
